Yuengling is brewed an hour from where I live. It's widely available in PA since wineries are allowed to sell PA beers with a limited license. PA's liquor laws stem from It's Quaker founding.

Oh that’s fascinating! Nobody ever explained it to me, and they always said it with a shrug, so I figured it was some irksome bureaucratic thing.

You'll be pleased to know Yuengling is now available for your enjoyment in Connecticut.

Not New Hampshire though, or 19 other states.

I was most interested in the Hitler analogy.

Interesting.

Well this was 2009 and I’d gone with this group of friends to see Valkyrie and also I think that the Downfall Hitler-freakout meme was freshly ascendant.

Still, today that line might be misconstrued by the less intelligent people out there. I'm sure you have your own assortment of crazies, it just may attract more, just sayin.

BTW, do you miss the grocery job?

Alexander Sorondo's avatar

I have a modest assortment of people who occasionally send me something kinda wildly hostile. I'm used to it.

And thanks for asking about the grocery job -- I never ever miss it even a little bit, though it haunts me, and I can't stop thinking of hours as $23 units of labor.

Hopefully, you'll soon be raising that number.

Congrats on your new book.

I really enjoyed this. Each section on its own, but also the flow between was kind of surprising in a nice way.

Thank you, Ron! I appreciate that!

Me reading along here, trying to figure out *which* Vollmann novel where he dates a prostitute.
