Well I see that you are not a true dessert connoisseur! And also I didn’t think of myself as gullible but I got hustled buying a pretzel at the farmer’s market this week and then this, so it might be time for me to take a good look in the mirror

I used to have an eBay store, selling used clothes and books. One time I sold a book of old Pokemon cards, my GOOD ONES from childhood. Got a sense of the price and I sold the whole book, roughly 60 cards, for $350. A guy bought it right away. I checked his profile to see if he was legit cuz this was like the one thing between me and making rent that month. And yes he was legit.

I checked his profile a few weeks later. Turns out he took one of those cards and sold it for like $400.

I was mad for a minute but finally I thought, “Y’know, that’s his reward for doubling down on what he likes. I sold Pokemon cards to a Pokemon dealer. What’d I think was happening?”

You, sir, found yourself in the crosshairs of a seasoned pretzel hustler. Then you got hustled with a pretzel. It happens to the best of us.

This has given me a lot to think about with regard to the making, selling, buying and advertising of things. Hats off to the flippers, they do know their stuff.

I’ll admit that the pretzel was good though, and likely home made. And I consider your essays to be home made as well, and well worth the more-than-advertised-but-less-than-actual price of a farmer’s market pretzel.

“Worth more than a pretzel” is something I really could’ve used on the cover of this book…

Home made. And worth more than a pretzel.

I love your writing.

It’s the comments that keep me coming back for more.

Better than pizza shop cheesecake.

Well I’ll take this high high praise — especially cuz it comes after so much support for such a long time. Thank you so much for always reading, Deborah!

I've ordered the book, a 2nd time. 😆

Looking forward to reading it.

“So good she bought it twice, folks…!”

Thanks for that, Tari!
